What flavour cake should I make?

There is lots of dog-safe foods you can use to make your cake. Meat, vegetable, fruit, why not go wild and mix it up.

What about using wholemeal or coconut flour to make it more healthy? Although as a special treat you can use normal self-raising flour too.

What can I use for a topping?

Your dog will love the cake as it is or do you want to add a topping?

You could use mashed fruit, like bananas, strawberries, or mashed sweet potato?

Or melt some dog safe chocolate, or what about some sugar-free yogurt/kefir?

Decoration

Do you want to go the whole hog and decorate?

Dog biscuits, dog safe chocolate, sliced fruit, chicken feet can make great and funky decorations.

Remember flames and dogs do not mix, so candles may not be a good idea! What about using a foot or meaty stick instead?

Note

We recommend that cake should only be used as a high-value reward and given to your dog in small quantities as part of a balanced diet. We also recommend that it should only be given to dogs and puppies over the age of six months old. If you have any concerns about giving your dog a home-cooked treat please check with your vet first. Liver should be fed in moderation otherwise it could upset their stomach.
