I have a lot of messages asking how the puffed snouts are made and if they are bleached. I can only comment on the products that I supply, and urge all pet parents to check with their chosen supplier.

The puffing process

The puffed white variety is carefully processed to reduce its fat content before drying, making them puff up slightly and take on their white colour. The resultant treat is a collagen-based treat that is easily digestible by pets and has air pockets, making it crunchy.

The treat is not fried or baked but is formed using convection of hot air as a puffing mechanism. They are also much lower in odour than some other natural dog treats.

The texture I can only describe as a crunchy marshmallow!!

Do puffed snouts contain bleach?

These puffed snouts are 100% natural and do NOT contain bleach or any other chemicals.

100% natural and 100% pork.

Why feed puffed snouts to dogs?

Dogs have an inbuilt need to chew, it is a normal and natural behaviour. Chewing releases endorphins, which have a comforting and relaxing effect. It is a self-rewarding behaviour that has many positive benefits, so should be encouraged.

However, if dogs aren’t given chewing opportunities or the right training, they will often help themselves to items to chew that may not be appropriate. Shoes, clothes and furniture seem to be a favourite! We like natural chews for the added benefits of enrichment, taste, texture, aroma, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients.

A vast array of natural dog chews are available, such as ears, feet, hooves, horns, tendons and skin. Some people can be a bit squeamish about feeding their dog’s body parts, if this is you, maybe choose the ones that look less like body parts, for example, beef muscles, moon bones, beef tendons, ostrich wings, pork rolls.

But to be honest these “animal parts” would end up in landfill otherwise, so go on why not give your dog a chance to try them?

I hope this has helps, please let me know below or add any questions you would like answered.
