Phew it’s still warm out there, what about some Doggy Ice cream? 😎

Who’s has little hot dogs 🌭

I know I have, today we have made their favourite treat, homemade Ice cream for dogs, woof woof 🦴

You can buy it pre-made but it is cheap and easy and fun to make yourself

Start with plain yogurt (Greek yogurt for dogs is great, provided it is xylitol free) or kefir

Then add whatever you like peanut butter, honey, or fruits (strawberries, bananas, mango, apple, avocados, etc) are great 🍉🍓🍍🥝

What about sneaking some veg in? Spinach and carrot anyone? 🥕🥦🥒

Or meaty ice cream, blend some liver or use some baby food?

Maybe pop in a chicken foot or pizzle as an handle, let the imagination go wild!!

Strawberry & Banana Dog Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • 10 fresh strawberries, chopped
  • 1 medium, ripe banana
  • 1 cups (10oz/280g) natural plain yogurt (low fat, non-fat)

Instructions

  • Mash the strawberries using a potato masher. You want very small pieces of fruit so your dog can swallow it easily.
  • Add in the banana and continue to mash, almost to a puree
  • Stir in the yogurt and mix all ingredients until well-combined.
  • Pour the mixture into freezer-safe air-tight containers and then freeze for a minimum of 4 hours but preferably overnight. Ice cube trays are good to make small portions.
  • Will keep the Ice Cream in the freezer for 8 weeks.
  • * If you want the ice cream to be scoopable use Greek/Strained yogurt

This banana & strawberry ice cream is also great for cats!!
